We have a large amount of specialized equipment that can handle any commercial or residential project quickly and efficiently.

The first in the area to use excavators and off-road trucks for moving large amounts of dirt.

Allied Excavating has increasingly put Komatsu excavators on its job sites during the past decade. The company currently has about 15, ranging in size from 1,960 PC09 to the 97,000-pound-plus PC400LC. Several are Dash-8 models that feature ecot3, Tier3 engines designed for more power and lower fuel consumption and emissions.

Komatsu Interim Tier 4 Engine Technology

Based on Komatsu proprietary technologies developed over many years, the new diesel engine reduces exhaust gas particulate matter (PM) by more than 90% and oxides of nitrogen (NOx) by more than 45%—when compared to current Tier 3 levels—while still consuming less fuel.

Komatsu’s Tier 4 engine technology includes:

Newly designed variable geometry turbocharger
Newly designed DPF (diesel particulate filter)
Heavy duty HPCR (high-pressure common rail) fuel injection system
Larger more robust cooled EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) system
Redesigned combustion chamber at top of piston
Harmonized engine and machine interface by electronic control system

Komatsu – a staple in the Allied Excavating fleet.

According to Brock, “Komatsu excavators are our main pieces of equipment on our jobs because they offer a small trench for a water line, moving mass amounts of dirt or hammering rock. In every application, they’ve always proven to maintain their power and productivity. They’ve always been very fuel-efficient, too.”

Tight spaces are no problem.

“We have quite a few of the compact excavators, too. They’re excellent at working in tight spaces or around traffic because [of the machine’s tight turning radius]; we’re not worried about hitting something with the counterweight. What’s really impressed us with those machines is the power they have for their size.”
